Mission & History

My Village Ministries(MVM) was started by a small staff and a large network of churches who want to provide holistic care to families in crisis. We believe that difficult circumstances reach a breaking point when you are socially isolated. We also believe that the local church has a community ready to go to meet that need.

MVM seeks to provide family preservation through Biblical hospitality. When a family is facing a crisis that makes it difficult for them to care for their children, they can call our referral line and find a host family that is able to host their children for a short period of time until they are back on their feet. During this time, the referring parent never loses custody of their children and has the right to be reunited with them whenever they desire. They will also be able to remain in close contact with them throughout the hosting.

Our Objectives

The five objectives of My Village are to:

  1. Prevent childhood abuse and neglect

We understand that the 2 main reasons childhood abuse and/or neglect takes place is because of (1) stress/crisis in the home and (2) social isolation. These are issues that can be addressed through MVM and local churches.

  2. Prevent unnecessary foster care placements

We see this most predominately in medical crises, where the main caregiver does not have family, and/or friends, that they can trust to care for their kids, as they get through the crisis.

  3. Prevent, reduce, and repair childhood trauma

When a child experiences trauma it can impact a child’s ability to connect, attach, and relate to people. By coming alongside families in crisis, we reduce the traumatic impact on a child.

  4. Provide family stabilization to the socially isolated

We believe the church community is a great outlet for those isolated to experience consistent and compassionate people/community.

  5. Provide holistic care

We desire to take a well rounded approach in the ways we care. We want to help meet physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs. We rely upon the local church, MVM staff, and other community resources to accomplish this.
